A Dane County location survey is defined in chapter 10 of the ordinance. It is a map required by the zoning department whenever construction is planned within 10 feet of applicable setbacks. The map must be prepared by a registered land surveyor.

Other communities have similar site plan submittal requirements for building permits, but not all require a registered land surveyor to prepare them.
