Certified Survey Map

A certified survey map is used to subdivide land where the total number of lots indicated on the map is 4 or less. A CSM can also be used to dedicate roadways, create easements, and move existing lot lines.

A CSM does not require review by the State of Wisconsin Department of Administrative Plat Review. Sometimes multiple CSMs are used to avoid a subdivision plat to save time and money.

CSMs are subject to local review. Typically they are placed on the local authorities' agendas and will not be eligible for recording until final approval is received.

Local review fees and ordinances for CSMs vary. A qualified surveyor will be able to facilitate your land division at all levels from mapping, to monumenting, to town meetings, and recording.
